Free Hunting Days Set

(From the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife) Sportsmen are encouraged to introduce someone to the sport of hunting this weekend, Sep 3-4, during Oklahoma’s Free Hunting Days.

Resident hunters are not required to have a state hunting license or a Harvest Information Permit while in the field either of those days. But state game wardens will be on duty as usual to ensure compliance with bag limits, shooting hours, shotgun plugs, hunter education requirements and other general regulations that are published in the Oklahoma Hunting and Fishing Regulations Guide.

“Free Hunting Days are a great time to take someone out who hasn’t been hunting before,” said Lance Meek, hunter education coordinator for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. “It’s a great time to take a kid hunting, and it’s also a great time to introduce grown ups to our sporting heritage.”

“Dove and squirrel seasons are open this coming weekend and those are plentiful all around Oklahoma. These hunting seasons give sportsmen lots of action early in September,” Meek said.
